Bought Shutter Island the other day. Never heard of it before but saw that it was a new Leonardo DiCaprio movie so figured I should give it a go.
So Sarah, Campbell and I benched ourselves in front of the TV to watch it.
And yeah it was a great movie!
Basically the movie starts out with DiCaprio arriving on an island where they keep mentally ill prisoners as a US marshall in the 1950s. He is sent there to investigate the disapperance of one of the psycho inmates, a woman who drowned her three children. Of course of course there is a big storm heading in and the island gets cut off from the main land and so the intrigue starts.

The movie kept us guessing different outcomes, one which was sort of right. I like it though when you can follow a movie and sort of guess but never be really sure of the outcome. If I have zero idea of where the movie is heading then I feel lost and get bored. And the very end has a beautiful little twist.
The creepy thing about these types of movies that concern crazy people is that you are always asked the question of who is really crazy? Someone who once has been labelled crazy cannot get rid of that stamp since anything they say will be used against them.
It makes me think of the movie Changeling, which is based on a true story. It is so disturbing that they locked up sane people in the mad house just because they were in the way, and these people have no way of proving that they are not insane.
Anyways, watch Shutter Island!
