Shanghai- the last days

Im already in Norway now.

Feels a bit unreal to think that my life in Shanghai has come to an end already…but Beijing lies ahead!

On Friday we had our graduation ….thing….

I FINALLY got a hat after 7 years of studying. Thank you very much.

Dear old Mao got to be our background piece

On Saturday I had lunch with Howard French, which was great. He changed my mind about somethings. For example I will no longer worry about North Korea that much. Feels fantastic.

I went out with Bex on Saturday one last time, and spent most of Sunday trying to pack and run some last errands.

And that was that.

Fried sea crap and sentinal crap

Taken in Hanoi at a Chinese restaurant (duuh!)

How to pose like a Chinese person

Chinese people don’t just take a photo presenting a weak smile. They actively go for making the photo interesting.

Natural is a word that does not belong here!

POSING is all it is about.

Posing is taught at a very early age

Is the wall looking a bit old and drab?

Strike a pose!

You can add that ancient Kung Fu feeling!

And of course, use interesting props to add an interesting element to a picture. Like white people!

Organise your Wardrobe!

Warning for shallow post ahead!

I found a free program that allows you to organise all the items in your wardrobe.

You take a photo of your clothes, shoes, bags etc and put it into the program. Then you can add tags to each item and categorise them.

So say you want to wear something pink, you type in pink in the search field and everything that is pink comes up.

Or if you more specifically want to find a beige cardigan you type that in, and all your beige cardigans shows up!
yay!

Im hooked to it now, hehe

Indulge!

Sigbjörn eats a Scorpion…or 6

We went to the food street in Beijing, near Wangfujin.

The food there was great! Prices were tourist inflated though…

Sigbjörn was adventurous and ate scorpions

Presents for Micaela and Nkoko hihi

Finally, finally!

I got the presents made for Nkoko and Mica in Vietnam :)

Gate-crashing the World Economic Forum

When we arrived in Ho-Chi-Minh we realised that the World Economic Forum was being held in HMC during our stay.

Soooo of course I looked up what hotel everyone was staying and hung out in the hotel bar hoping to spot an economist I like…saaay Dani Rodrik.

Rodrik stood me up!

Time to start again!

In the last month I’ve been busy travelling around and having family visiting me.

I’ve gone to Guilin, Yangshuo, Vietnam and Beijing twice, I had an interview and got an internship position, and I have graduated!

I hope that is an excuse enough for being so absent on this blog!

What should my new Blog name be?

Sooo…since I won’t be living in Shanghai anymore I can’t really be Shanghai Sigrid, can I?

I already got some good suggestions on what what my new blog name should be, but please, if you have any thoughts on what I should call my new blog from Beijing, then let me know! Comment or email me :)

Beijing, here I come!

Woho!

So happy you have no idea, I will be working in the economics section, I feel like this is so perfect for me :)

Now I just need to find a new name for my blog haha
